Rumi Prayer-Create Challenge

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field.

I’ll meet you there.
When the soul lies down in that grass, the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language- even the phrase “each other” -do not make any sense.

This Rumi poem/prayer of truth is the way we are to approach sacred circle. Empty out so the space can be filled with Her grace. Divine femininity is characteristic by the chalice, the bowl; such as the womb. It is hidden, open & receiving of the abundance that is our birthright. She gathers her knowledge and wisdom not thru words but thru sacred imagery and symbol. This is why creativity is so essential to nurture the spirit. Our creative endeavors are Divinity Herself being made real for all to see. This is why beauty is so important not only to the senses but the sensibilities. We were created for ecstasy and pleasure. Art is the God/dess Herself manifest. I can’t imagine much more exciting than that right now. Go create! Let’s see what She wants to say thru You! This is a challenge. Read the Rumi Poem & begin. Be Inspired!

Happy New Year!

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

star_of_david.jpg I’d just like to take a moment to wish all my Jewish readers a very Happy New Year! For those who are not Jewish, here’s a bit about the holiday:

Like the typical “new year” that takes place on Jan. 1, Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) is a day of reflection and introspection. Everyone is encouraged to look back on the past year, apologize where needed, let by-gones be by-gones, and set goals for the new year.

No work is permitted on Rosh Hashanah, and Jews are encouraged to spend the day in a synagogue, where one of the most important traditions is the blowing of the shofar, a ram’s horn that sound kind of like a trumpet. “Tashlikh” is another common tradition. In this “casting off” ceremony, Jews walk to a body of water and throw bread to symbolize the casting off of sins.

If you meet someone Jewish today, wish them “L’shanah tovah”, which means “for a good year” and is the shortened version of a long Hebrew phrase meaning “May you be inscribed and sealed for a good year.”

To all who are Jewish - I admit that I don’t know much about this holiday. If you have info to add or correct, please let me know! In any case, have a Happy Rosh Hashanah, everyone!!

Some religious news…

Monday, May 28th, 2007

With an average of more than six children per family, the typical haredi (believing in strict rabbinic law) Jewish woman has little time to invest in a career.

Haredi Jews adhere to strict traditional rabbinic authority – and that means being a part of Israel’s renowned high-tech industry is all but impossible. The problem for Haredi women, who wish to be part of the industry, is two-fold – the long hours and a working environment which includes men.

A number of outsourcing companies in the local council of Modi’in Illit are trying to overcome these obstacles by creating workplaces which more or less employ only haredi women.
