Jesus Can Suck It?

by Allison

kathy_award_devil.jpgThere’s quite the debate going on over at my other 451 Press blog, Reality on Bravo. The backstory, in case you’re not a avid tv-watcher, is that comedian Kathy Griffin won an Emmy and proceeded to say that God had “nothing to do with the award” and “the award was now her god.” The kicker? She proclaimed that Jesus can suck it.

Some laughed, some gasped, and everyone went crazy. Recently, a Christian Theater group spent $100,000 to take out an add in USA Today denouncing Kathy, which I think is downright ridiculous.

I’d love for you to weigh in with your comments. Don’t be scared - even if I don’t agree with you, I still respect your opinion!

She wasn’t blasting Jesus, she was blasting all those celeberties that get up on the podium and “Thank God” for their award. The point being, surly God has other things to do than get you an award for entertainment.

$90k spent over this… couldn’t we have feed a few homeless with that??? Crazy.

    GOOD ONYA KATHY…..

AT LAST a Celeb with the courage to stand up and publically declare what most of us alredy know….the very fact of the non-existence of a/the god….

    IT’S ABOUT TIME….

She’s right folks….how can you keep alluding to the help of something that just doesn’t exist?…..Ok…Ok….it exists in people’s MINDS, and this is as far as it goes.

FINALLY a celeb with faith in HERSELF….

AND OF COURSE…..the “pro-God/Jesus lobby swoops in to make capital of it all….well, I’ve got news for them….Hell doesn’t exist either….none of it does…no god, devil, heaven, hell, and all the other trash that religons promote…..NOT A SHRED of “evidence”….only another book, written by human priests called “The Bible” is ever put forward is “proof”…..

It’s up to the believers to come up with the goods. They have it all to do, for nothing can “proove” their case, and they ALWAYS bring it down to a matter of FAITH.

Folks, you don’t construct skyscrapers on FAITH…or bridges…..so, WHY should we then build our philisophical LIVES on FAITH as well? Religon is a social framework, a series of rules to live your life by AND NOTHING MORE.

WHEN you, as believers, can find a way of conveying this message without all the “Kapow miricles” and other social holdovers from our feudal past, then I (and Kathy from the sounds of it), will be more than happy to join in…

Until then, the Church will continue to have a weakening influence, and become more and more laughable. PROOVE the existence of this “nether world”….Proof of bible “storys” is not enough. You must show us the “ipso-facto” reason for the very fact of it all. Otherwise, people like Kathy are going to be in a GROWING majority….until we have smaller and smaller “relgious groups” in the west, wearing out the pants of their knees alluding to the presence of something that just is not there….
