Something to Think About…
I’ve recently been reading some Hindu teachings, and no matter what your religions background, I highly recommend doing the same.
Accoding to Vedanta, our spirit is divine, pure, free, and perfect. We do not have to work for this, it is simply the case and we only have to realize it.
I think this can be applied to a Christian tradition as well. Our spirit is naturally good. When we do bad things, we simply have to pray for forgiveness.
Lately, I have prayed for forgiveness because I have been overly irritable with the amount of work I’ve had on my plate.
For what have you prayed for forgiveness lately?
If you can’t think of anything, perhaps you should go pray right now.

I am in recovery and am in the process of taking a moral inventory…so lately I have been praying for God to lift that burden!

Soul is pure and crystal clear. But impurities gather on it from our activities here. We only need to remove the impurities.

I must strongly disagree with that concept being “applied to a Christian tradition as well”. Christian teachings, especially Catholic ones, teach the exact opposite if this. I don’t see then how it (being Christian teachings) can be applied to the Hindu teachings you have mentioned.
Christians follow the “no one is perfect” followings. Can’t forget about original sin either…

I fit this Hindu teaching into my Christian life because that, before original sin, God designed us to be perfect. Jesus died to take that away, and if we accept Jesus as our savior the Christian teachings say that we have, essentially, a ticket into heaven. This is the kind of “realization of perfection” I mean. The Hindu religion says we can do this alone without Jesus, but instead by following certain paths to God.

Wait… you believe that Jesus died so that we would no longer be perfect?
Don’t forget that you need to repent for your sins in addition to taking Jesus as your one and only savior. Christianity is very big on reptentence, because one again, they are also big on sin (i.e. people have a lot of it).
If by “realization of perfection” you mean the recognition of Jesus as perfect, then I would have to say I am with you on that one. We have to strive to follow the same path that he paved for us, but even in doing so we will never be perfect ourselves.

I agree mostly with David here. We are not perfect in no means even if we try. The only perfect one is God. God did make Adam and eve perfect but sin over came them. From there we are all born sinners. Thru Jesus ALONE our sins will be forgiven. But that isnt a one time deal. Everyday we continue to sin and everyday we must come before the Lord and repent. God also said we shall not worship any other god but him. He is a jealous God and it is a sin to worship false idols. So why sin against God and go to Hindu? You mentioned in the beginning that you have been praying for forgiveness because you have been overly irritable with the amount of work you have on your plate. Well, maybe you should pray to God in the name of Jesus to forgive you for worshipping another God. To give you enlightenment and reassurance that you need.
Remember this always my friend, ” The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)
Many blessing to you, your sister in Christ,
