Sunday School Snacks
I grew up Lutheran, and if there’s one thing you’ll remember about any Lutheran church service it’s that afterwards, there’s probably food. We’re Pennsylvania Dutch. We like to eat. We simply build our church pews a little sturdier!
That said, many of you moms out there have probably participated in Sunday School snacktime at some point or another. Depending on how larger your church’s Sunday School is (and how much every eats…’round my church, no one takes just one cookie), you may take the job, thinking you only need to bake or batch of cookies, but feel frazzled when you realize that you actually need to bake 8 or 9!
Here’s a quick recipe you can use that’s always a winner at my Sunday School. It’s a little messy to eat, but mmmm totally worth it, and the kids LOVE it. Make sure you bring milk to drink!
S’mores Bars
2/3 bag of chocolate chips
10 Graham crackers
1/2 bag mini marshmellows
2/3 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup melted butter
1. Preheat your over to 350 degrees Farhenheit
2. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray
3. Lay out the graham crackers. Depending on the size of your cookie sheet, you may need more or fewer than ten.
4. Sprinkle chocolate chips and marshmellows over the graham crackers. Eyeball it, you don’t have to use a measuring cup.
5. Mix together brown sugar and butter until you have a smooth running mixture. Use your spoon to drizzle it evenly over the cookies.
6. Bake until marmellows are golden brown and puff up. Should take around 10-15 minutes.
That’s it! You can cut the pieces pretty easily if you follow the lines that are already on the graham crackers, just be sure to wait until they’re completely cooled or you’ll make a mess.
Let me know how your Sunday School kids like ‘em!
