Trusting in God?
If you’ve recently picked up some of the new George Washington dollar coins, pull them out and inspect them closely before spending. About 50,000 (according to latest estimations) were printed without the typical “in God we trust” along the edge. The coins were released on February 15, 2007.
When first discovered, these “Godless” coins were going on eBay for a cool $600. Now that everyone knows how many are actually in circulation, I bet those first buyers are feeling a bit silly, since they are now selling at around $60-80. Experts estimate that the average price will be about $50 once the buzz dies down.
But hey, $50 still means that you’ll make $49 for every coin you have in your pocket right now.
How did this mistake happen, and, more importantly, how did it get past quality control? The simply answer is that nobody knows. Conspiracy theorists, of course, assume that this was plotted months in advance by someone wishing to leave God out of our everyday lives.
I’m not sure what I believe. It is an awful big mistake to happen accidentally.
In any case, check your coins. If you grabbed some, right now they’re selling like hot cakes online, so if you want to cash in, do it now.
